Volunteer
How to volunteer and help Birthright function
What does volunteering involve?
Providing love, compassion, emotional support and practical assistance
to women and girls is always the first priority of Birthright volunteers.
After completing a training program volunteers are assigned a regular
shift at the Birthright Office. This is usually 34 hours a week.
Volunteers handle a variety of phone calls, especially those from girls
and women who are distressed by their pregnancy.
A new volunteer works with a seasoned volunteer until he or she feels
comfortable putting their training into practice and taking a shift at
the Birthright office.
Some of the duties of a Birthright volunteer are to provide:
- free pregnancy tests
- a listening ear
- care for baby clothes, layettes and maternity clothing
- presentations to schools and to community groups
If you would like to volunteer please call 1-613-231-5683 or e-mail
us at birthright-ottawa@rogers.com.
